Gees Recycling srl brought its direct experience in the recycling of thermosetting plastics to the 5th National Rigid Polyurethane Foam Conference of ANPE (National Association of Rigid Polyurethane Foam).

The conference took place on May 12, 2022 in the City of Science of Naples. We intervened on the thematic focus SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES at the invitation of Prof. Michele Modesti (University of Padua – Department of Industrial Engineering) and dr. Paolo Tomasi (Vice President of ANPE), illustrating some fundamental issues for us:

  • The mechanical recycling technology is “smart” because it can be implemented with high technical reliability and relatively moderate plant costs, and therefore can be replicated at the national network / consortium level
  • The product obtained from the recycling process (Recomplax sheet) is economically competitive and can ensure a continuous and significant flow of waste collection-transformation-sale
  • The “proximity” of waste recovery services to the source that generates it is a universally valid principle, and even more strategic for bulky and light materials such as polyurethanes.

A “long-range” treatment of this waste becomes environmentally and financially ineffective, increasing the risks of illicit behavior at the time of disposal.
